Pacific Crest Trail
In 2023 I hiked a part of the Pacific Crest trail.
The following subset of photos where taken throughout the hike which started in Campo, South California and ended in Northern California, in the small town of Redding. It was a challenge to narrow the amount of pictures taken down to a digestible amount and at the same time share a story of what we saw on our hike. As we where hiking lightweight, all pictures where taken with my Mobile Phone, a Samsung S22
I loved the winding path with my two Hiking friends walking out in front of me through the dry prarie grass. This picture was taken somewhere before the small village of Warner Springs
A beautiful sunset after we left Warner Springs and hiked up high into the mountain range. The light and view where magical.
Decending down to Whitewater after a once-in-a-lifetime hike up to Mount San Jacinto. (It Took us fourteen hours from Saddle Junction to the peak and then back down ot our camp 1/3 below of the peak as we encountered unusual amounts of (wet) snow for end of may). Looking back up on the next day on our final descent it felt amazing to look up at this magnificent rock that we challenged on the previous day. I took the photo trying to frame it with the pine trees and the clouds
View on our way to Hot Springs north of Big Bear.
View from Mount Baden Powell. Trying to capture the contures of the mountain ridge with the clouds in the background.
A Rattlesnake chilling at the side of our hiking path in the sun. I took this photo on our way from Soledad Canyon to Aqua Dulce. What was a little creepy was that we hiked through long patches of high grass. Never knowing if a Rattler is lying on the right or the left.
How small my fellow Hikers are beneath these enormous Wind turbines, north of Hiker Town (Lancaster CA). We encountered countless turbines. I took this shot capturing the single enormous turbine with the two small hikers below.
We encountered our first big patch of Burnt forest in Northern California. Impressive scenery, walking mile after mile through burnt vegetation. I took this shot somewhere north from Chester, CA.Sometimes a burnt tree would just topple over from the wind, startling us.
Traversing a river in the Lassen area, north California. We always felt lucky to have a tree trunk to get over the river with dry feet. The balancing adding ot the challenge.
